Warrigal Green is committed to creating and maintaining a safe work environment for its staff. Through proper training, consultation and assessment we aim to minimise the risk of injury or illness.
We use the following approach to ensure that the highest safety standards are achieved in our work:
- We have an OH+S management system that dictates the overall way that we approach OH+S issues.
- We have produced a series of generic safe work method statements that cover all the activities that we are likely to perform and environmental conditions that we are likely to experience.
- We have a company manual that must be read by all new staff that includes OH+S information such as safe work method statements. This forms the basis of our general induction and work activity induction.
- All field staff are encouraged to complete the Construction Industry OH+S General Induction (Green/White Card).
- A hazard summary sheet, or checklist is produced for all sites. This must be read and signed by all staff before working on a site. Many sites have similar hazards present, with similar tasks occurring each day. Any particular or additional issues are discussed and any other potential hazards noted. This is our site specific induction.
- All supervisors have a Senior First Aid certificate and carry a mobile phone on site.
- On-site training is provided to staff when undertaking a task which they haven’t performed before.
- Comprehensive training is undertaken by staff for high-risk activities, eg chainsaw work.
- All injuries are reported, as part of the daily timesheet, and injuries, accidents and near-misses are analysed to try to prevent their re-occurrence.
- We have a staff meeting every three months to discuss OH+S issues and update the system if necessary.
